Skills for Life

"Skills for Life" continues at East Creek, with a second program now underway. There are places remaining and we are aiming to fill all places by April . If you know anyone who could benefit from literacy and/or numeracy help, have them call East Creek immediately. There are no exams and no stress; tutoring is structured around the goal of the learner, be it to find a job or to get into another course of study.

We are also seeking volunteer tutors. Teaching experience is not necessary as full training is given. If you feel that you can commit to a minimum of 4 hours a week, and would enjoy helping someone achieve their goals, we'd love to include you in our training session.

Phone 4639 2755 to make an appointment.

Broadband for Seniors

East Creek has been successfully running the government funded free Broadband for Seniors programme for over 12 months.

The programme is popular because clients receive one on one tutoring and can go at their own pace.

We are one of 2,000 kiosks established across Australia offering seniors regular access to computers and broadband internet.

The Minister for Housing, Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, Jenny Macklin has written to thank us for our support and participation in this important initiative and inform us that the government will invest a further $10.4 million to continue the kiosks.

There are still places available, so if you've been putting off learning how to use the computer, be assured you'll be given a patient and friendly tutor suited to your needs.
